Amanda Brugel

Brugel is the only Canadian part of the Season 1 group. Her appearance was limited to at times. Then, in Season 2, she became a regular cast member and still a part the cast today. If asked about her part on the show, and whether there was any parallels with her personal life beyond the camera, Brugel said that she drew on her own experiences of racism in relation to the way that Marthas are being treated. "I haven't used the same experience in her position as a Martha but, like I said, it's my previous instances where I felt like I'm held back by situations because of race." The race I'm from has never caused physical harm throughout my life, however it's something that I've encountered. When someone says an insult or is biting someone or smacking me, I will use any racist attacks that felt real for me. It's almost like I punch her in each scene.
