Ruth Roman, a screen actress who parlayed her electrically charged combination of sexiness and the wholesomeness of her character into Hollywood fame in the late 1950s and the 1940s. She passed away this week at her residence located in Laguna Beach, Calif. She was 75. Richard Hall, her son confirmed her death when she was asleep. After her breakout role opposite Kirk Douglas in Stanley Kramer's ''Champion,'' which was a 1949 re-telling of the Ring Lardner story that revolves around one of the most insane prizefighters, Warner Brothers gave her the lead roles in nine movies in less than two months. The actress went from appearing alongside Bette Davis on the film 'Beyond the Forest'' supporting Milton Berle's 'Always leave people laughing', all in the space of a day. It was her turn to appear in 'Tomorrow Is Another Day with Steve Cochran as the lead and Steve Cochran, one week after finishing "Strangers On a Train..'' Ruth Ruth Ruth
