
Adele Mara (April 28, 1923 - May 7, 2010 USA) was an American singer and actress. She was in films during the 1940s and 1950s[2] and also on television in 1950s and 1960s. Adele St. Mara became her professional name when she was offered a contract with Columbia Pictures[citation necessary]. She worked on comedy shorts as well as features for Columbia Pictures "B". The title was later changed to Adele Mara. Mara started her professional career as a receptionist for the Three Stooges movie I Can Hardly Wait. Mara and Leslie Brooks played the sisters of Rita Hayworth's character in the Fred Astaire film You Were Never Lovelier. She plays the lead female part in Alias Boston Blackie (1942) and plays the sister of a wrongly charged and released convict. When her Columbia contract ended the studio moved her to Republic Pictures, where she was a regular in their westerns and outdoor adventures.
